In the Spirit of Time, Panerai Releases a Newly Designed Luminor Marina 1950 3 Days

On Monday, October 10, Panerai celebrated the early release of the Luminor Marina 1950 3 Days, at Milan’s Triennale Design Museum, in step with the opening of the Panerai-presented “O’Clock-Time Design, Design Time,” Exhibition.
While not necessarily commemorative of the exhibition, the timepiece, which is an early release of an SIHH watch, acts to deliver a similar message about the mix of design and function. And just as the pieces punctuating the exhibition spoke to the idea of time as fleeting while infinite, the Luminor Marina 1950’s specially designed case takes inspiration from a historic Panerai model donning a similarly pronounced cusp rounding of the carrure which acted as an early 1940’s symbol of the transformation from the Radiomir to the Luminor.
The Luminor Marina 1950 3 Days, referenced PAM00422, features traditional Panerai elements such as small seconds at nine o’clock as well as their classic format of large numbers and idexes; and the hand-wound Panerai caliber P.3001 movement that provides a 3-day power reserve that can be viewed through the crystal of the back case.
Made in a series of 2,000 pieces, the 47mm Luminor Marina 1930 3 Days dons a black dial and comes with a pure, natural leather strap that promises to wear beautifully.
