Haute Jewels: Martin Katz’s Forcasts Jewelry Trends
by Martin Katz

Jewelry trends are just like fashion trends, constantly changing!  Martin Katz, jeweler to stars who dressed Amy Poehler, Cara Buono and Maria Bello just to name a few this Emmy Awards is forecasting his upcoming trends for the season. Check out what we can expect on the red caprets this season.

Trend: New Vintage
Things that are old become new again. Whether it is tassel pieces from the Roman era or white pearls from 1950’s, Martin is inspired by vintage and loves to create pieces that never go out of style.

Trend: Rough Cuts
Imperfections are beautiful and can be the thing that sets a piece apart from the ordinary.  Rough quality helps create personality; it’s all about the jagged edges, rustic textures and earthy tones.

Trend: Black Diamonds
Stunning and definitely a statement piece.  This precious stone gives high-end jewelry an edge, but still looks luxurious.  Martin uses them in earrings, rings and necklaces and we are even seeing more and more brides even go for this trend.

As awards seasons come and go, it now seems the red carpet almost garners more eyes than the actual awards ceremonies do. This is a relatively new phenomenon, as the red carpet wasn’t actually an international fashion show until the early 1990s.
