The world-renowned Chez Panisse restaurant in Berkeley, CA, is famous for it’s attention to detail, from the food to the delightful illustrated menus and cookbooks.  Patricia Curtan is the artist, designer, and printmaker who first began hand-printing menus while employed as a cook in the Chez Panisse kitchen.

On Saturday, October 22, 2011, Patricia Curtan will present her new book, Menus for Chez Panisse, a collection of four decades of menus created for the restaurant.  The book features dinner menus for special guests such as Julia Child, Hillary Clinton, Mikhail Baryshnikov, and James Beard-with notes about the menus, the artwork, the occasions, and, of course, the food.

Curtan’s menus, works of art in their own right, capture the unique spirit of the famous restaurant with letterpress and linoleum-block prints on beautiful paper.
