Haute Event: Margaritaville Casino at the Flamingo Opens

John Cohlan of Margaritaville Holdings rolls the first dice at Margaritaville Casino at the Flamingo.

At noon today, Margaritaville Casino at the Flamingo opened its doors for the first time to a crowd of hundreds who had been waiting for the opening all morning. Among those waiting were self-proclaimed Parrotheads Ron and Linda from Lake Havasu. They were awarded for being the first people in line, and most likely the most-spirited. The couple won two tickets to the Jimmy Buffett concert that will take place Oct. 15, the day after the official Grand Opening of Margaritaville Casino at the Flamingo.

They planned to be at the Flamingo to get a taste of “Lucky Rita” that weekend already and were more than happy to extend their stay for the show.

Guests, employees and executives all cheered on John Cohlan of Margaritaville Holdings as he rolled the first dice and made the first wager at Margaritaville Casino at the Flamingo while toasting with a giant margarita. The 22 gaming tables and 220 slot machines quickly filled as guests explored the space, discovering thoughtful design touches inspired by the lyrics of Jimmy Buffett songs.

The 5 O’Clock Somewhere Bar became a fast favorite for those looking for a cocktail and entertainment as the flair bartenders put on a show. Both the 5 O’Clock Somewhere Bar and the new Margaritaville Casino at the Flamingo will be open 24 hours a day.
