Haute 100 Update: The French Laundry at Harrods Opens; Menu is a Testament to Keller’s Expertise

One of the culinary world’s most anticipated events – the opening of Thomas Keller’s French Laundry at Harrods pop-up restaurant – has finally happened… and it does not disappoint. Opening day took place on Saturday, Oct. 1 and the pop-up will run until Monday, Oct. 10.
Chef Keller has been preparing London for his legendary fare, taking into account every minute detail in his famously obsessive-compulsive way to ensure that London foodies get to experience the French Laundry as we in the States have been lucky to.

On the fourth floor of Harrods, tucked through designer children’s apparel in the corner of the store’s Georgian Restaurant lies the 70-seat replica of the Yountville original, which was twice named the best restaurant in the world.
The nine-course menu abounds with divine delights like canapés to include Atlantic salmon cornet in a sesame seed tuile and truffle and “tea and biscuits” featuring terrine of foie gras and bergamot shortbread.
Throughout the menu, no ingredient is seen twice and heady dishes pleasure one’s palate, like the Salad of Hawaiian Hearts of Peach Palm and the rich Chowder with Sacramento sturgeon, razor clams, sweet corn, and celeriac.
To finish it all off is a symphony of salty and sweet in the form of caramel, peanut butter, Tahitian vanilla marshmallow, and graham cracker s’mores followed by mignardises and an angel cake as a souvenir to take home.
