Haute 100 Update: David de Rothschild to Clean Up the Beach with Surfrider Volunteers

He may be an heir in the famous British Rothschild banking family, but David de Rothschild is anything but haughty. Renowned for his work as an adventurer, ecologist, and environmentalist, the youngest Rothschild doesn’t mind getting his hands dirty for the sake of the planet.
De Rothschild will be joining Surfrider activists at Torrey Pines State Beach in La Jolla on Saturday, Oct. 22 in a beach cleanup. Known for his expeditions across the Arctic and the Greenland ice cap, exploration of Antarctica, and journey into the rainforests of Ecuador, saving the environment is a matter very close to de Rothschild’s heart.
He and the other volunteers will be conducting the cleanup along the beach on Saturday, offsetting damage caused by the sewage spill into nearby Los Peñasquitos Creek during the blackout on Sept. 8.
The cleanup will run from 9 – 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 22. Volunteers will meet at the lifeguard tower by the entrance to the north parking lot at Torrey Pines State Beach along North Torrey Pines Road in La Jolla.
