Haute 100 Update: CBS’s Les Moonves to Receive 2012 Producers Guild Award

On Tuesday, Oct. 11, President and CEO of CBS Leslie “Les” Moonves was named the recipient of the prestigious Producers Guild of America (PGA) 2012 Milestone Award. The announcement was made today that he would be receiving the great honor, which goes to “an individual who has made historic contributions to the entertainment industry,” according to the PGA.

The award is typically given to a producer rather than an executive, with past recipients to include James Cameron, Alfred Hitchcock, Clint Eastwood, and Walt Disney.

The Producers Guild, however, felt confident in this year’s choice. “Les Moonves is a true visionary, with the rare combination of exemplary managerial skills, singular creative instincts and forward-thinking leadership of CBS and our industry,” explained PGA Awards co-chairs Paula Wagner and Michael Manheim.

They added, “Les has continued to advance the entertainment landscape with his ability to stay at the forefront of new media ventures, identify strategic acquisitions, recognize unique programming such as ‘Survivor’ and ‘CSI,’ and successfully guide his continuously growing team to achieve extraordinary results.”

The award will be presented to Moonves at the 23rd Annual Producers Guild Awards ceremony on Saturday, Jan. 21 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles.
