FAll/WINTER 2011 Saks Fifth Avenue Dubai Fashion Show

On 6 October at the Asateer Tent in Dubai’s Atlantis Hotel, Saks Fifth Avenue moved into a celebratory mode transporting over 700 trendsetting guests to the forefront of Fall and Winter’s fashion season with its Saks Fall/Winter 2011 Fashion Show which also marked its Seventh Anniversary in the region.

The front row VIP guests included a vast spectrum of designers, fashion commentators and style leaders. Before the sho guests were treated to canapés delicately decorated with the distinctive @ symbol which themed the show as well as mouth watering chocolate cake-pops cannily titled ‘Bytes of Heaven’ from Hey Sugar! (Formerly Sugar Daddy’s). With a core theme centering around seven years and the ‘@ Saks’ campaign, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, Saks’ corporate partner, displayed seven of the most coveted models at the venue, showcasing the brand’s cutting-edge technology and traditional craftsmanship skills in style.

The models were carefully preened by Giorgio Armani Cosmetics with this season’s key make-up trend of vibrant red lips and metallic eyes and had their manicures and pedicures prepped by the award winning NBar. All model’s hair styling was done by Jet Set.

When it came to womenswear, big name international designers from the likes of Dolce & Gabbana, Carolina Herrera, Erdem, Zuhair Murad, Marc Jacobs, Michael Kors, Viktor & Rolf, Jil Sander, Nina Ricci, Manish Arora, Azzedine Alaia and Herve Leger shared the stage with local favourites such as Kage. The seven hot-off-the-international catwalk themes being explored in over 50 distinct looks included Bordeaux, Jewel Colors, Midi, Retro, Androgyny, Supersized and Sparkle. Carolina Herrara and Nina Ricci’s floor-length multi-ruffled evening gowns were a highlight in the Bordeaux selection whilst over-sized Eskander cardigans and Michael Kors’ capes came top of every list as a winter wish-list. Dolce & Gabbana brought out the sparkle in a myriad of colors and pieces adding glitter and pizzazz to the show while flashes of red-soled Christian Louboutins, edgy-luxe Nicholas Kirkwood and Azzedine Alaia shoes carried the models down the runway.
