Guests of Minus5 Ice Bar help dismantle and ice replica of Kim Kardashian's 20-plus carat engagement ring ice sculpture.
A mere 72 days after she got married to Kris Humphries, Kim Kardashian filed for divorce. TMZ reported that Kardashian did not want to move to Humphries’ native Minnesota and instead wanted to continue living in Los Angeles near her family and career.
But the occasion gave one attraction a reason to celebrate. Minus5 Ice Bar at Mandalay Place invited the gentlemen visiting the icy confines to welcome the beauty back to being a single lady by picking away at an ice replica of her 20-plus-carat engagement ring from the ice bar. Minus5 dubbed it a “way of liberating the star while ‘breaking the ice’ for what they hope could turn into a relationship of their own.”
When the couple announced their engagement this summer, Minus5 Ice Bar created a replica of Kardashian’s engagement ring made completely out of ice and weighing in at nearly 500 pounds. Fans across the globe visited to pose with the popular sculpture while toasting to the (then-)happy couple.

Designed by Art of Kinetik, the ultra-luxurious yacht, called the “Hedonist”, a term that perfectly describes this 63 foot glamor machine, is defined as “pursuit of or devotion to pleasure, especially to the pleasures of the senses“.
“Hedonist” Yacht combines a solid mahogany hull and Rolls Royce water jets, making it a joy to ride, even at its top speed of 40 knots. The design is considered to be a good mix of technology and art, as this yacht has an outstanding appearance. Aesthetics was one of the main factors to consider when planning this project. Every element was carefully studied and optimized.
The interior brings together state-of-the art modern arrangements and the best utilities out there. The bathroom is fully equipped and so is the kitchen. And did you notice the minimalist approach on the “living room”? Comfort is ensured down to the smallest details. The “Hedonist” has sleeping space for two or three people, but can have up to 12 persons aboard, making it a perfect place for having an intimate, exceptional party.

Deadmau5 made his return to Las Vegas last night with an explosive set that filled XS Nightclub at Wynn Las Vegas with his signature pulsing sounds alongside celebrity revelers. The “Ghosts N Stuff” theme filled the venue as cocktail servers dressed as the walking dead and enormous one-of-a-kind video screens surrounding the stage flashed spooky images. Even deadmau5 played into the holiday spirit sporting a tacky Hawaiian shirt and accessorized the ensemble with a bucket hat, fly swatter and pipe creating an outrageous tourist look.
The night began with a special pre-shift pep talk from deadmau5 to rev up more than 100 costumed staff members for what would be an incredible evening ahead. Doors opening shortly after 9 p.m. and thousands of party-goers poured into the mega club.
DJ Le Castle Vania opened the Halloween celebration with a set that shook the venue to its core ensuring was all party-goers were amped for the set ahead. Within two hours, XS reached its capacity and the crowd was ready for deadmau5 to take the stage.
Shortly before 1 a.m., Le Castle Vania led thousands of excited fans in a countdown to welcome the electronic music visionary to the stage. As the crowd hit one, smoke erupted from stage and the mouse head appeared. Deadmau5 kicked off his highly anticipated set wearing his signature headpiece, this evening’s creation resembling cheese with missing holes in the ears, and began to drop tracks.
After he crafted a few tracks on the fly, Sofia “Sofi” Toufa joined him onstage to lend her intoxicating vocals to the set as he transitioned into the song “Sofi Needs a Ladder.” Supporting her performance from the stage was boyfriend and Mötley Crüe member Tommy Lee who is also a longtime friend to deadmau5. Toufa dressed as the Queen of Hearts, and Lee dressed as a devil were seen on stage throughout the evening, tweeting out cute pictures to their many followers.
The tantalizing performance was bound to have a celebrity presence as Holly Madison and Angel Porrino were capturing the set from the exclusive on-stage table. The starlets from “Holly’s World” were dressed to the nines. Madison wore a sexy Minnie Mouse costume with glowing ears, two-piece polka dot ensemble, and bright yellow Louboutin pumps. Also joining the festivities was Phil Ivey, a notable American professional poker player who has won eight World Series of Poker bracelets.
As the evening turned into morning, there was no end in sight to deadmau5’s unforgettable set. His fluid tracks continued and finally, the song of the hour and inspiration behind the party’s theme, “Ghosts N Stuff,” pumped through the speakers as a cloud of confetti came cascading from the ceiling. From pool deck to dance floor, not a body was still as party-goers became immersed in the chart topping hit.

Also on property on Sunday was rapper Flo Rida, who spent the afternoon at Hard Rock Beach Club’s pool. Yoshitomo Nara, one of Japan’s most notable Neo Pop artists, will be showing his new body of work at Pace Gallery in New York City. Nara is known for paintings that depict cartoon like images of children and animals, sometimes with a dark twist. His paintings blend both Eastern and Western aesthetics and the imagery often comments on popular culture and the social ideals that inform mass consumerism.
Nara is an established artist who has had over 40 solo exhibitions at some of the most prestigious venues in the world; needless to say, Pace Gallery is honored to join the list. The show isn’t taking place for some time however – the exhibit is scheduled for debut in 2013. So all you art enthusiasts and collectors out there, pay close attention to the HL website for more information and details regarding this important cultural event.

Steve Jobs was one of the most innovative men in the world, especially when it came to the design of his products. He always knew how to upgrade the look and feel of a new computer or phone with a sleek simplicity reminiscent of modern architecture. But all the success he experienced in his life makes one wonder where his genius came from. When it comes to design, we can take a look back to Jobs’ early life and his childhood home for inspiration. Jobs grew up in a modernist home designed by Joseph Eichler – a man who believed that he could bring modern sophistication to the middle class. Eichler himself was inspired by other modernist greats such as Frank Lloyd Wright.
The house that Jobs grew up in was filled with large glass windows, high ceilings, sleek countertops and open spaces. Sound familiar? Apple products seem to be driven by a similar aesthetic - shiny glass faces, sleek plastic surfaces and overall simple shapes. It’s hard to believe that Jobs childhood spent in such an architecturally significant home didn’t have an impact on the way he saw the world.

Five units are now on the market—including a $9.5 million penthouse—in L.A.’s celebrity studded, iconic Sierra Towers. Former residents of the famed 31-story West Hollywood high-rise include David Geffen, Sidney Poitier, Lindsay Lohan, Matthew Perry and Rachel Zoe. Elton John, Joan Collins, Cher, and Courtney Cox are amongst the current homeowners at the 9255 Doheny Road condominium building.
The building is truly irreplaceable; modern zoning laws would not allow such a high-rise to be built in that area. Its unique position as the tallest building in West Hollywood, paired with its breathtaking views, beautiful architecture, and discreet staff are all factors that have worked to make the Sierra Towers one of L.A.’s most expensive high-rises—with units consistently selling for $1,000 a foot or more.
The Sierra Towers, designed by Jack A. Charney, was originally developed for $12 million by Walter and Leo Minskoff; nearly the same amount as the asking price for the available penthouse. It first opened in 1966 and drew celebrities like David Jensen, star jockey Willie Shoemaker, and then Tawny Kitaen. Frank Sinatra allegedly helped finance the project because he wanted his mother to live in the building. In more recent years, residents recount real-life celebrity moments such as Lindsay Lohan arguing with then-boyfriend Scott Storch in the elevator, and Joan Collins and her Dynasty nemesis Diahann Carroll exercising together in the building’s gym.
