Richard Meier-Designed Condos Back on Drawing Board for Beverly Hills Robinsons-May Site
by Alison Agudo

Despite previous condo plans that eventually fell through for 9900 Wilshire, the former Robinsons-May building in Beverly Hills, the Los Angeles Buisness Journal is now reporting that the site has new owners who plan to build something very similar to the already approved plans featuring Richard Meier designs.
Located next to the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, the Robinsons-May building site has gone through years of back and forth when it comes to development. Condo plans were underway in 2007 and 2008 from the British developer brothers Candy & Candy, however after attempts to save their plans, they eventually defaulted on their loan. But now, the site has new owners: the Asian group Joint Treasure International, who plan to build something very similar to what Candy & Candy had in mind, including Richard Meier design condos.
The plans that date back to 2008 include two buildings with 235 condos and 16,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space. However, the Los Angeles Business Journal is reporting that the new firm may cut back on some of the amenities to cut costs, including a private bowling alley, a communal wine cellar, a ballroom, a fitness center and spa and concierge service.
Joint Treasure hopes to start demolition next summer. The project is expected to be complete in late 2014 or early 2015.
