Miami Heat star Chris Bosh and the New York Knicks’ Carmelo Anthony made their joint TV debut (Bosh had previously made a minor appearance of HBO’s Entourage) on Wednesday, Sept. 28 when the two appeared on NBC’s hit drama Law & Order: Special Victims Unit in an episode entitled “Personal Fouls.”
Anthony and Bosh, who is set to host a high-profile exhibition game next week in Miami with the rest of the Miami Heat “Big Three,” were not integral in the plot of the entire episode, but added some star power to the back story of the episode’s main subject, a youth league basketball coach whose players later become big-name NBA stars like Bosh and “Melo”.
Considering the fact that both NBA stars are novice actors – and the fact that Bosh admitted to never seeing an episode of the show – they seemed to be at ease on camera.
See the clip of the stars in action here.

- EAT: Lazy Ox Canteen, Downtown LA
Now a staple in the burgeoning foodie district of Little Tokyo, Downtown LA, The Lazy Ox Canteen Rocks!
If you’re into Rock Music and a Rock-Solid cuisine, Downtown LA’s Lazy Ox Canteen is the just the spot for your next dining adventure! Occupying a long, narrow dining room jammed into the ground floor of a Little Tokyo condo complex, and fashionably unmarked on the outside, Lazy Ox Canteen has become a staple in the burgeoning foodie district. Your dinner’s soundtrack will include rock music blaring from the open kitchen where the chefs rock-out while preparing your rockin’ meal! There are plenty of tables for two, some of them pushed together to create rickety 4 tops, and huge chalkboard menus listing 20 to 30 dishes or more, posted at each end of the dining room. This place definitely delivers on experience.
They have an awesome wine list and their collections of beers is second to none in the neighborhood. Founder and Executive Chef, Josef Conteno (Meson G, Opus and Lot 1) creates an outstanding fusion menu incorporating fresh seasonal ingredients and influences of Japanese Izakaya, Mediterranean and Classic American Comfort Food. Conteno became known for his baked creation that he calls “bäco,” a hybrid of Mediterranean flat bread and a taco. He carries that claim-to-fame with him to this day. Bäco is available a couple days a week at Lazy Ox, your job is to find them on the board, and then hope that they haven’t yet sold out. And hunt for the elusive bäco you will; you may find it in any form which may or may not include beef, crunchy pork belly, scallions and something like a Catalan romesco sauce. They are all delicious!
Executive Chef Conteno is all about tasting menus! Not just small portions of entrees on the menu, but creative samplings of culinary inspiration such as braised lamb cheeks, braised pork neck and braised veal tongue with candied green tomatoes… You get the drift. So bring a big group of friends and create an experience out of your evening! You’ll be glad you did!
Just remember to ask for the bäco!

VIP-LA 310.988.2848 Members@VIP-LA.com www.VIP-LA.com www.VIPLAAccess.com Facebook TwitterOn Tuesday, Sept. 27 hip hop mogul and part Nets owner Jay-Z introduced the newly-named Brooklyn Nets – to change their name from the New Jersey Nets when they move next year – and announced the details of their upcoming transition to the Barclays Center in September 2012.
In addition to a major press campaign to promote the team’s exciting new ventures, Jay-Z will also be reportedly working closely with iconic sportswear brand Adidas to design new uniforms for the team. He will also be working with Nets designers – who are currently working on the team’s new logo – in the creation of the jerseys.
The Nets’ current color scheme of red, silver, white, and navy blue will be changed as well. Although nothing has yet been concretely decided upon, it is certain that the word “Brooklyn” will be prominently displayed, capitalizing on the borough’s popular brand name.
“Brooklyn will be involved in whatever we do,” said Fred Mangione, chief marketing officer for the Nets and Barclays Center. “We will always tinker with things along the way.”

Gilan’s latest collection celebrates the vibrant passion and history of the legendary city of Istanbul. Embedded with numerous colorful gemstones, Colours of Emotion is a journey through the many colorful landscapes that define the centuries- old city. The collection is inspired by four unique stories: The Sunset, The Tulip, The Night and The Dance.
The fiery sunsets along the Bosphorus have been a source of inspiration for many artists for their breathtaking beauty and blazing colors. The Sunset features a combination of warm metals and bright stones which invokes the boldness of these the city’s sunsets. Mandarin garnets are set alongside pink tourmalines and rose-cut diamonds to symbolize the fading sunlight. Amorph shape opals dip into yellow gold, their elevated setting reflecting the image of a setting sun.
Honored as Istanbul’s National Flower, the tulip is one of the most important symbols of Istanbul culture. Planted each year to celebrate the coming of Spring, and revered by the traditional Ottoman Court, the tulip represents love and rebirth, grandeur and nobility. The Tulip is composed of delicate necklaces blanket the collarbone, the rows of diamonds, pink tourmaline and rubellite reminiscent of the rows of tulips lining the gardens of Istanbul’s great palaces. Amorph shape rose-cut purple sapphires are set in warm, rose gold, recalling the sensory awakening of Spring, and the blooming flowers.
Dance has long been an integral part of Turkish history, a line of continuance in a chronology often interrupted by conquest and resurgence. The Dance features rings of spiraling tourmaline and tanzanite, meant to invoke the color and flourish of traditional costume. Cabochon-cut sapphires are framed in elegant curves of diamond, dancing happily across the finger.
A cultural city by day, Istanbul emotes mystery and sensuality by night. The Nigth is composed of cascades of twilight blue sapphires and turquoise colored paraibas represent the changing palette of the Bosphorus, as the sun sinks lower and lower on its horizons. Glimmers of diamond reflect the soft peaks of waves, shimmering in the moonlight and adding a touch of hope to an otherwise mysterious mood. Delicate seagulls, with pave wings and turquoise colored beaks, sit atop these diamonds, keeping the moonlight company along the harbor.
