New York Fashion Week 2011: BCBG and Richard Chai: Spring/Summer 2012
BCBG
The BCBG Spring/Summer 2012 runway show was held this morning at 10:30am at Lincoln Center. The collection stayed true to the classic BCBG design aesthetic that is always clean and simple. The Spring/Summer 2012 collection was an assortment of silk dresses, jumpsuits, and separates that each had a hint of color, and suggested an air of tribal influence. Sheer hems, open shoulders, pleats, and pockets are what gave the collection an element of surprise. Without a single solid piece within the line up, the fantastic geometric patterns that made their way down the runway gave structure to a collection that was otherwise entirely fluid and billowing.

RICHARD CHAI
Following BCBG and with a similar geometric inspiration, Richard Chai’s Spring/Summer 2012 collection was full of structure, prints, and layering. By combining prints, Richard Chai successfully gave his S/S 2012 collection an energy that was powerful and innovative. Chai’s modernistic approach to his collection included layering skirts over pants and pairing stripes with floral. For both men and women, the collections were mostly composed of separates that can easily be interchanged. The first look, a personal favorite, showed floral print shorts paired with a yellow printed tunic and black military jacket. Perfection!
