Jay-Z & Prokhorov Present The Brooklyn Nets
It’s official. In one year, The New Jersey Nets will be re-born as the Brooklyn Nets, as announced by Nets co-owner Jay-Z this morning. The team’s new name was unanimously decided upon with Nets’ new owners, which included Jay-Z and Russian billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov.
News of the re-naming comes after Jay-Z’s media blitz to sway Knicks Fans to the other side.
The Brooklyn Nets will make their debut at the Barclays Center in 2012.

The team unveiled new colors and logos in its new hometown of Brooklyn yesterday, across the street from its nearly finished billion-dollar home arena, Barclays Center.
On Tuesday, Sept. 27 hip hop mogul and part Nets owner Jay-Z introduced the newly-named Brooklyn Nets – to change their name from the New Jersey Nets when they move next year – and announced the details of their upcoming transition to the Barclays Center in September 2012.
