On September 16th, 2011 a cocktail reception and dinner in honor of the second annual WIE (Women: Inspiration & Enterprise) Symposium took place at Le Caprice in New York City. Presented by The White Ribbon Alliance, Urban Zen, The Huffington Post, and Harper’s Bazaar. This exclusive evening at one of New York’s great venues celebrated Young Female Trailblazers.
Arianna Huffington introduced her team Christina Hartman (the new EIC of Black Voices for Huffington Post), Alana Kornfield (of Urban Zen) and her sister who will soon release a book. Guests listened when WIE Participants Teresa Shaver, President of The White Ribbon Alliance (which raises awareness for Safe Motherhood – www.whiteribbonalliance.org <http://www.whiteribbonalliance.org <http://www.whiteribbonalliance.org> > ) encouraged guests to join WRA movement. June Sarpong (Co-founder of WIE) called the female media in the room to participate in the second initiative “press for women by women” on National Women’s Day on March 27, 2012.
Following the Perrier Jouet champagne, guests enjoyed a menu designed by Le Caprice Executive Chef Ed Carew: grilled halibut with cranberry beans and tomato with summer vegetables, lemon mousse with raspberry jelly accompanied by Lioco NoCo Chardonnay and Domaine de Bel Air Morgan. Each guest left with a scented candle by luxury London perfume house Miller Harris.
