President Barack Obama will be in the Bay Area as the guest of honor at the homes of two of Silicon Valley’s biggest names – Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg and Symantec CEO John Thompson.
The Obamas have been visiting the Bay Area quite a bit, with First Lady Michelle Obama’s visit earlier this summer and now President Obama’s visit this coming September 25. He will be hosted at private receptions in the homes of the tech bigwigs, first at a private peninsula home in the afternoon to be followed by an evening dinner in Atheron.
The first reception will be at the Woodside home of Symnatec’s Thompson. The entrance price is $2,500 without a photo opportunity or $7,500 with a photo with the President.
The evening meal will be held at Sheryl Sandberg’s home and carries a much heftier price tag at $35,800 a head. Sandberg will be hosting the exclusive dinner with husband David Goldberg and the two, at this point, are no strangers to hosting the famous – Oprah Winfrey dined there just last week after she appeared live online for a townhall meeting with Facebook fans via Facebook Live from Sandberg’s home.
The president’s trip is to be a brief one, however, only visiting for these two events. He is scheduled to travel to Southern California the following morning.
