Bold Beauty Trends for Spring and Summer
by HauteLiving

It seems that every year people start talking about how color is making a comeback, but this year color is definitely king – and it’s everywhere. Designers are sending their models down the runway wearing a kaleidoscope of fabrics along with complimentary cosmetics, and the trend is catching on from New York to Los Angeles.

These four beauty trends can help you hang with the bold and brazen:

1. Singing A Different Tone: Spring is a time to renew, recharge and freshen up the world around us, and what’s better than a new hairstyle to get you looking and feeling your best? International model Leyla Milani (you may know her as Deal or No Deal lucky case holder #13) the creative force behind Milani Clip-in Hair Extensions, has a few tips. The Milani Hair extension kit lets you achieve the look you want without damaging your natural hair, and without committing to long hair for months on end, like the glue-in and sewn-in alternatives.

“We’re seeing a lot of celebrities rocking two-tone colors or overgrown roots,” Leyla says. “You can get this look very easily by simply letting your roots grow out and then clipping in lighter colored extensions to create some definition in your hair. This look is effortless and easy to create, and it doesn’t require a dye job.” Since Milani Hair is 100% super premium Remy human hair, after the two-tone fad fades you can take the hair to the salon and dye it whatever color is on trend.

2. The Eyes Have It: Think of those brightly colored eyelids that are forever etched in our memories of the 80s. Only this time around, the brows are shaped and the application is a lot more sophisticated. Forget neutral eye shadows – vivid colors are hot this spring among the fresh faced and fashion forward. Violet is especially popular this year with the fearless, makeup-obsessed fashionistas, and you can make that look your own with a container of Crème de Violet from MAC Cosmetics. For a vibrant statement, celebrity makeup artists suggest wetting the shadow brush before application.

3. Cherry Blossom Cheeks: Who doesn’t want to look as though they’ve just returned from a relaxing Caribbean vacation with sun-kissed cheeks? Fresh faces never go off trend, and this season is no different. The “dewy look” can be achieved in three simple steps: (1) polish, (2) cleanse, and (3) moisturize. There are a wide variety of great multi-step skin care systems that make gorgeous skin accessible to those who have the cash to throw at their genetic deficiencies, and every high-end department store is well stocked with them. To finish the look, use a sheer cream foundation and create flushed cheekbones in cherry blossom pink or the current industry favorite, coral. NARS Loukoum cream blush will create the effect well on just about any skin tone.

4. Nail-magination: It’s time to expand your nail art vocabulary. Never before have nails been as expressive and daring as they are this season. Think beyond your run-of-the-mill French manicure or monotone color polish – women with their fingers on the pulse of the beauty industry are turning to flashy nail art as a way to express themselves. From stripes to hearts and animal prints, nail art is quickly becoming one of the most popular ways to customize your look.

This isn’t the airbrushing you get for $50 at an inner city nail salon, and you can tell. You can get some of the best effects by visiting a high-end nail salon such as Extremedys Hand and Foot Spa on Santa Monica Boulevard. Naja does Lady Gaga’s nails, and don’t you deserve as much?

It’s easy to achieve this year’s runway color effects for yourself in a customized way. Go ahead and pair up some gorgeous new threads with a few hair and makeup tweaks and develop your unmistakably fabulous look. Colors transform faces, brighten up your wardrobe and put an extra skip in your step, so don’t be afraid to tap the power of the rainbow in 2012. Feel free to put your own remix on it, like this guy did.
