This Cantonese spot may be a little outside of the city limit, but it its traditional fare makes it well worth the ride. Considered one of the most authentic Chinese restaurants in Atlanta, you will truly experience the Chinese culture through the food. So, if you are a General Tsa and egg roll kind of diner, this may not be the spot. But if you are looking for genuinely authentic Chinese dishes (and are adventurous) this is definitely the spot to go. You won’t find anything else in Atlanta that truly transports you to China. And, if you the cravings start past dinner time, no worries, they are open until 2 a.m.

Located in a Victorian Midtown house, Mu Lan offers creative dinner entrees that you won’t find at most Chinese spots. Mu Lan specializes in preparing gourmet, authentic Chinese dishes with an emphasis in seafood.  With an emphasis on seafood, the dishes can be enjoyed on the delightful patio overlooking the heart of Midtown.

Another long standing Chinese spot, this restaurant located on Peachtree Road has truly stood the test of time. Natives and the like have all dined and laughed at Grand China. This tropical cocktail bar and Asian eatery is known for its yummy cuisine and impeccable service. And to expand their customer base the family owned and operated spot has expanded their menu to Pan Asian Cuisine. Along with the Chinese, you now have a choice of Japanese, Thai, Malay and Vietnamese cuisine. And did we mention the drink menu? You have to try one of their cocktail like the Scorpian Zombie.

This long standing institution may not look like much from the outside, but it is one of the best in the city. Very traditional and very authentic in its dishes and décor (we love the golden Buddha statue that greets you in the front) this spot is great for dining in or carrying out. Nothing too fancy, but definitely fit for the gourmand. If you are into Dim Sum, they are known for having the best.
