I am a self proclaimed beach fanatic. Really I am. It is all about the clarity of the water, the color must be a magnificent shade of blue, the consistency of the sand, soft to the touch. Second to the beach is the weather. Less rain and endless sunshine is key for me in choosing a holiday destination. Thirdly is the hotel. I am all about sexy family friendly vacations. The hotel must play to the whims of not just my Hubby, Joseph Anthony and I, but also to my 6 year old son Jaden.
Flawless weather , The blues that surrounds Turks and Caicos are so vivid that you’ll want to consult a color wheel, miles of pristine, powder soft sand of Grace Bay Beach, twice named ” World’s Leading beach’ by the World travel Awards.
The Gansevoort sits on a beach that is probably one of the most beautiful in the Caribbean – perfectly clear water, powdery white sand beach, and not very crowded since the Gansevoort is located at the end of the strip and feels much more secluded than the beaches of the other hotels . We made advanced reservations for the stylish beach beds. This is a must, comfy, spacious and perfect for lounging with the many rum drinks I was ordering on a daily basis. The Gansevoort has more of an adult theme, thought they do provide a custom made kids program if required. We choose to just hang with our little guy mostly, and hired a babysitter through concierge for our late night escapades.
Most days we opted to lay on the breathtaking beach in front of The Gansevoort, on their comfy beach bed, drinking refreshing and delicious rum punches. I am being redundant aren’t I? Again this is Island life at it’s best. In the late evenings, we would lounge on one of the ” islands” at the spectacular, sexy pool. Making new friends, Jaden swimming to his heart’s content, while the hubby and I are doing what else? Downing more delicious rum punches. Every evening at the beach, we gazed in awe at the magical sunsets. The service is impeccable at The Gansevoort, all our desires met and Jaden became very popular with the personnel at the hotel. The hotel was booked to capacity, yet it never felt crowded at all. At any given moment, we were able to get a beach bed or chairs by the pool. The beach itself spacious and never crowded. I can describe the vibe at The Gansevoort as sexy, hip, luxurious and laid back.
For us having our six year old son with us, the hotel suited us perfectly as a family. Jaden found many things to get into, and became fast friends with the other kids that were guests at the hotel
Bagatelle the only restaurant at the Gansevoort was amazing. We devoured
delicious lunches by the beach from the beach bar. At night we dressed up and
did formal dinners at the very happening Bagatelle.
Renting a car was extremely easy on Turks and Caicos. We decided to rent one for a day of fabulous adventure finding the perfect hidden beach. A morning of detective work, I found out this ” perfect hidden beach” was breathtaking Taylor Bay. The bay itself is close to a mile long and is extraordinarily shallow for hundreds of yards, perfect for young children to play and splash in the water without the risk of deep water or waves. Jaden and I frolicked for hours as I taught him how to float. As well, there are some good shells and starfish there to be found. Let’s leave my photos to explain the further beauty of this beach. However, getting to Taylor Bay can be very hard if you don’t know how to get there. No signs exists and it is not marked. This is the islands after all. Inside joke to all my fellow islanders. We did get lost for at least 35 minutes. Joseph was a bit freaked out driving on the left side of the road, but once he got the hang of it, he was a natural. It was all so worth it.
After Taylor Bay, we headed for some local food, the locals and fellow tourists we talked too, all raved about the Conch Shack. For something less touristy, venture about 15 minutes by car into the Blue Hills along the northwestern coastline. Da Conch Shack (Blue Hills Road; 649-946-8877 . Sitting on this beautiful, rocky beach, The Conch Shack serves up, what else delicious conch. It is also known for it’s famous Rum Punch. Jaden ordered yummy fish and chips. Joseph had a tasty, fresh stew Mahi, Manhi with rice and beans. We all shared a Conch platter, which consisted of fried conch fritters, conch hush puppies .. one word YUM !!!
My two favorite guys and I loved Turks and Caicos, the beyond beautiful beaches, laid back vibe and friendly people. The Gansevoort was the perfect choice to stay for our family. A STAMP on this for anyone who heads to Turks and Caicos for a beach adventure.
