Save the Date: Industry Wine-Tasting At Roy’s Hawaii Kai

It’s not often you get to attend the kind of wine-tastings held for only industry insiders.
But for the third year in a row, Roy’s Hawaii Kai, along with JMD Beverages, the only locally owned fine wine distributor, will open up this special brand of wine-tasting to the public on Aug. 11.
While the professionals will sample the wines a few days earlier, you can get a full taste of the more than 100 wines at the event from 21 wineries, including Amuse Bouche Wine, Au Sommet, Rombauer and Duckhorn Vineyards (shown below). Wines with a Hawaii connection — Lanai Tabura’s Look Me in the Eye label and Kaena Wine — will also be featured at this event.

This event is more than just a wine-tasting. You can meet and chat with various winemakers and wine experts, including Heidi Peterson Barrett, who has been responsible for some of California’s most notable cult wines and runs her own winery, La Sirena Winery.
Cost is $67.50 per person and includes tastings, nibbles from Roy’s Restaurant — including ahi tartare, Szechuan baby back ribs, sous vide lamb leg parmigiano, Thai pesto shrimp — and a small charity wine auction. For more information or to make reservations, call (808) 396-7697.
