Miami is a city with a reputation primarily based on it’s sexy beaches and over the top night life. Likewise, St. Tropez has a reputation of it’s own. Before arriving in St. Tropez, I had only heard about how extravagant the town was, but after spending four days there, I came to realize that “extravagant” was an understatement. It seemed to me that people plan their entire year around their summer vacation in St. Tropez, and their wardrobe reflects this. Virtually every person I encountered was impeccably dressed, coordinated, and seemed to have stepped out of a magazine. Tropezienne style is fun, shocking, and has no rules. Nothing is too fabulous for St. Tropez.

It was my first visit to St. Tropez, and although I had been briefed by friends who had traveled there before, I didn’t quite know what to expect. As a Miami native very familiar with the concept of beach-chic, I was properly packed for my stay. Rondini sandals, linen cover-ups, Missoni swimwear, and panama hats are just a few of the fashion staples of St. Tropez.

I spent a day at Le Club 55, where the beach was a catwalk and the women looked like goddesses. For all those planning a trip to this sultry spot in the near future, know that the style competition in St. Tropez is pretty stiff. Come prepared!
