Haute Toys: World’s Most Expensive iPads
by Alison Agudo

Apple products are known for their simple design, which is part of the appeal for many buyers. However, as we have seen with past Apple products, there are always fashion-forward people looking to stand out from the crowd, and what better way to do so than to bling-out your trusty gadget?

Perceiving an iPad as perfect for fashion and function, many celebrities such as Lady Gaga, Mariah Carey and Karl Lagerfeld have already stepped out sporting their diamond, crystal or gold encrusted iPads. But you don’t need to be a famous star to get your hands on a sparkling iPad. Here is a rundown of the five most expensive iPads currently available.

Camael Diamond’s iPad – $1.2 million – $150,000

For those who believe there’s no such thing as too many diamonds, Camael has customized an extraordinary iPad with 300 carats of white diamonds. The iPad is also ornamented with rare black diamonds on the home button and Apple logo on the back and goes for $1.2 million. If that price is too steep, the company also does a gold-plated version for $150,000.

Mervis Diamond Importer’s iPad – $19,999

Number two comes in at around $110,000 cheaper than the Camael Diamond iPad but what it lacks in price it makes up for in luxury. As the first iPad to be customized for those who adore sparkle, the iPad features 11.43 carats of diamonds that are hand set in micro-pave styling on the frame of the screen.

Crystograph’s iPad2 – $10,000

In the race to stay ahead of the general public, Crystograph has not only customized an iPad, but it has already moved on to customizing the newly released iPad2. The newest edition is gold studded with 10,000 crystals with five shades of gold – silver shade, golden shadow, light Colorado topaz and jet hematite.

Gold & Co.’s Apple iPad2 – $5,500

London-based Gold & Co. has also customized the latest version of Apple’s iPad products with the 24-carat gold iPad2. Initially launched at the Dubai Women’s Exhibition in Jumeirah, the glittering iPad2 joins the company’s iPad, iPhone and iPod gilded products.

Goldgenie’s iPad2 – $2,705

Made of 24-carat gold, this iPad2 is a limited edition gem with a mirror finish on the back. If you purchase it, you’ll receive an authenticity certificate signed by James Caan and Laban Roomes stating that the product is made from genuine materials.
