Haute Estates: Celebrity Getaway Homes
by Alison Agudo

When celebrities want to take some time off from their busy schedules they like to maintain their luxurious lifestyles, just a bit further out from the spotlight. Here is a rundown of a few celebrity getaway homes the stars run to for some R&R.

Sir Richard Branson

Branson’s island retreat is located on Necker Island in the British Virgin Islands. For exclusive use of the property, the price tag starts at $54,500 per night. The compound features 14 bathrooms and is located on a 74-acre island that Branson has owned since 1978. The great house looks like an upscale thatched beach hut with vaulted exposed beam ceilings and doors that open up to the aquamarine ocean. There is also an outdoor hot tub, a large roofed dining terrace, a gym and spa with water views. Infinity pools, an outdoor bar, hammocks, a tennis court, a floating trampoline and a miniature submarine called the Necker Nymph.

Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell

Located in Malibu, California, Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell enjoy their getaways at this $14.5 million property. It features four bedrooms and five bathrooms and has 4,300 square feet of living space. The power couple has previously rented the home in the summers for $95,000 a month but now they are trying to sell it. The new buyer will get three suites, a media room, a designer kitchen and a guesthouse that has a meditation/guest room and a workout room.

Kelsey Grammer

“Frasier” star Kelsey Grammer has listed his mountain ski resort property that is valued at $7.9 million and is located in Avon, Colorado. The home features six bedrooms and eight bathrooms in 8,500 square feet. The estate also has a wine cellar, stone flooring, vaulted ceilings, nanny quarters and a deck. The hardwood used in the home was reportedly salvaged from an 18th-century Chicago warehouse.

Jerry Seinfeld

Comedian Jerry Seinfeld owns a massive 14,200-square-foot Telluride, Colorado, compound situated on nearly 27 acres. It is up for sale fully furnished and valued at $18.3 million. The home features eleven bedrooms, twelve and a half bathrooms, a wet bar, lofts, a guesthouse, a 5,500-square-foot deck, hiking trails and a creek.

Martha Stewart

Martha Stewart’s 35,000-sqaure-foot home on Mount Desert Island, Maine, is located on 63 acres of land and was originally built for automobile tycoon Edsel Ford in 1925. Jens Jensen designed the grounds and Stewart is only the third owner of the home. She has not disclosed how much she paid for the home, which apparently came with cars and all the original furniture, including the refrigerators.

Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne

The rock duo has a $9.5 million home in Malibu, California that they are trying to sell or rent out. The 4,500-square-foot, midcentury, beachfront home has five bedrooms, five bathrooms, a library, walk-in closets, security features and multiple beachfront decks and terraces.
