Haute 100 Update: Marc Jacobs Tops the List of Dior Head Designer Candidates

Marc Jacobs, the creative director at Louis Vuitton and founder of his own eponymous luxury label, is reportedly being considered to take on the position as head designer for Christian Dior. The coveted spot at the iconic design house opened up after Dior’s former head designer, John Galliano, was stricken by scandal and fired after being charged with racially abusing people in a Paris café.
Despite the list of candidates for their new head designer being yet undisclosed, it is being said that Jacobs is at the top of Dior’s wishlist to fill the vacant position.
A source close to chairman Bernard Arnault of LVMH – Dior’s luxury parent company – has said, “Jacobs, the current creative director of Louis Vuitton, renewed his contract with LVMH in January, and it is possible for him to continue in his current position even if he takes over Dior.”
They add, “More likely, however, is that he’ll end up choosing between one of two. Arnault would prefer him to go to Dior; as the billionaire sees it Jacobs’s image will only be good for the fashion house, which was considerably shaken by the Galliano scandal.”
