Haute 100 Update: Fans Shell Out Thousands to Attend Wade’s First Fantasy Basketball Camp in Miami Beach [PHOTOS]

This past weekend, about 50 men shelled out thousands to attend Dwyane Wade’s first ever Fantasy Basketball Camp at the Fontainebleau Hotel on Miami Beach. It was reported back in May that the three-day camp cost $12,500 a head and those willing to pay got the chance to train and compete with the Miami Heat all-star player.

One camper, Michael Ferdman, flew to Miami from New York for the incredible opportunity to play with Wade and fulfill a fantasy. He said, “If I could, I would do this for a living to be honest, but I’m not good enough. We pretend.”

Wade followed in the footsteps of NBA legend Michael Jordan, modeling his 35-and-over camp after Michael Jordan’s Flight School, similarly for a slightly older demographic. Now that Jordan has moved on to other endeavors, Wade has taken the reins as the premiere adult basketball camp counselor.

Wade was enthusiastic about the debut of the camp, commenting, “This is the first year. We are going to get better from here. I told the campers, ‘We are all here because we have something in common. We have a love for the game.’”

The base price of $12,500 included the camp events with Wade, an all-inclusive stay at the hotel for the duration of the camp, and transportation to the airports – and the campers all agreed the hefty price tag was worth every cent.

Another camper from New York, Doug Cardoni, explained, “The cost, you kind of throw it out the window. It’s just that much fun and memorable.”
