Haute 100 Update: Clint Eastwood’s Upcoming Biopic ‘J. Edgar’ is Primed for Awards Season with Impressive Cast

Looks like Haute 100 San Francisco member Clint Eastwood has been hard at work. After news of his upcoming take on A Star is Born starring Haute 100 New York member Beyonce, Warner Bros. has set a release date for his newest film, J. Edgar, a biopic to begin a limited theatrical release in the U.S. on November 9 and general release on the 11th.
The film, which is based on the life of infamous FBI founder J. Edgar Hoover, has generated a lot of buzz, especially because of certain secrets in Hoover’s life, including one Eastwood addressed by commenting, “[Hoover] was a very complex person. The [closet] homosexual aspect is just one of many. I would say that’s the least of his problems.”
The highly anticipated biopic stars a very impressive cast, including Leonardo DiCaprio (recently named Hollywood’s highest paid actor) as Hoover, Armie Hammer from The Social Network, Naomi Watts, and Judi Dench, among others.
Additionally, behind the scenes, Eastwood joined with the Oscar-winning Dustin Lance Black to work the screenplay, leading the new film to be an expected candidate for this upcoming awards season.
