Dining in Style in Shanghai
by Alison Agudo

Sometimes the most daunting thing about travel is making sure you see as much of a place as possible. Fortunately, there are plenty of ways to ensure you’re not only seeing a good portion of a city but also seeing the best of what that city has to offer.

One way to do this is to take advice from the experts. Learn what the locals like and trust their recommendations. Shanghai is home to some of the country’s most memorable dining experiences and the Four Seasons Hotel Shanghai has prepared a quick list of restaurants you don’t want to miss if you’re in town.

Café Studio, located in the Four Seasons, is a popular choice for breakfast because of the incredible spread of Asian specialties like dim sum, sushi, sashimi and congee alongside Western fare such as bacon and eggs. When it comes to a buffet, choice is key and there is plenty of that at Café Studio.

In you’re in Shanghai you probably should prepare for endless options when it comes to dumplings. To make sure you’re experiencing true Shanghai dumplings, head to one of the city’s popular dumpling houses, Nanxiang Mantou Dian, for lunch. The restaurant has been in the same two-story building in the old part of Shanghai for more than 100 years.

Branch out a bit for dinner and head to Lost Heaven where you can get foods from China’s Dai, Bai and Miao ethnic minority groups of the Yunnan province. The flavorful and spicy foods can be enjoyed in a black and red dining room with a sophisticated, dimly lit atmosphere.
