Celebrity Chef Summer Cook-off at Whole Foods Coral Gables

Wednesday, August 17, Whole Foods Coral Gables presents the finals of the summer-long celebrity chef cook-off. The healthy grocer invites the community to witness two local chefs, Chef Timon Balloo and Chef Michael Jacobs, compete against each other in the final round of Fill the Grill $20/20 minute challenge.
The challenge consists of two parts. First, the two chefs are given $20 to shop for ingredients in 20 minutes. Then, each gets 20 more minutes to whip up a creative dish using only a grill.
Balloo, of Sugarcane Raw Bar Grill, and Jacobs, of The Miami Heat, both won prior rounds of the competition against other chefs.
A panel of judges will decide which chef wins the Fill the Grill competition. The panel includes Fred Gonzalez of Miami.com, Lesley Elliott of Miami New Times’ Short Order food blog and Devonie Nicholas of the Food Network South Beach Wine and Food Festival.
The cook-off begins at 6:30 pm at Whole Foods Coral Gables, located at 6701 Red Road. Visit www.wholefoodsmarket.com for more information, and stop by the website after the competition to access the chefs’ creative summer recipes.
