Burt Reynolds Faces Foreclosure on Florida Mansion
by Alison Agudo

Golden Globe winner Burt Reynolds may be facing a foreclosure on his longtime southeast Florida home that he reportedly put on the market in 2009 for $8.9 million.

Accordingly to a lawsuit filed by a mortgage firm on August 9 in Martin County, the 75-year-old actor stopped making mortgage payments a year ago, the same year he had heart bypass surgery. The suit says that Reynolds owes Merrill Lynch Credit Corporation almost $1.2 million. Merrill Lynch also mentioned two other financial institutions that may have an interest in Reynolds’ 12,500 square foot, waterfront home.

In 1993, Reynolds went through a widely publicized divorce from actress Loni Anderson and a year later records show he took out the mortgage on the Hobe Sound home that is facing foreclosure.

Reynolds is known for his roles in films such as “Deliverance” and “Smokey and the Bandit” from the 1970s. He won his Golden Globe in 1997 for his role as a porn king in “Boogie Nights”.

Neither Reynolds nor his manager has commented on the reports.
