When the games of the 2012 Summer Olympics get under way in London next year, feats of athletic achievement won’t be the only things that the crowds will marvel at.  The London Aquatics Centre, a massive structure that holds three pools with a 17,500 seating capacity, will likely be a spectacle unto itself.  With prize-winning international architect Zaha Hadid at the helm, the building was designed to give the appearance of water in motion.  The most unusual achievement of “water in motion” – the undulating roof, reminiscent of a giant wave that sweeps up from the ground and flows overhead, unifying the different swimming pools.
