1953 Ferrari 375 America Coupe Expected to Fetch $2 Million at Auction
by Alison Agudo

When the Ferrari America Coupe first went on sale in the 1950’s, it was priced at $10,000. Now, as it heads to auction, it is expected to fetch between $1.75 – 2.1 million.

The handcrafted masterpiece was a product of Enzo Ferrari wanting to please his wealthy clients and produce a grand tourer (a high performance luxury car designed for long distances). While there are certainly exterior similarities between this Ferrari and others of the same era, the engine inside the 375 America Coupe is the largest that Ferrari made during that time. Generating 375 BHP of power and going from 0-60mph in under 7 seconds, the 375 America Coupe was a crowd pleaser.

The car, which was the original showpiece at 1954 Geneva car show, has been enjoyed by a long list of famous collectors including Howard Keck, Giovanni Agnelli and Franco Cornacchia. As it moves to auction, it’s likely that it won’t take long for a car enthusiast with money to spend to snatch it up and take it home.

RM Auctions will auction the luxury vehicle on August 20 in Monterey, California.
