Your Next Vacation: Richard Branson’s Balinese-Style Private Island in Australia

Earlier this month, we covered a list of various celebrities and their private islands, including Sir Richard Branson’s Necker Island, but most recently, Branson’s Balinese-style Makepeace Island at Noosa on Australia’s Sunshine Coast has been getting some extra attention. The 25-acre island has opened its doors for the first time ever for private leasing. The idyllic piece of Paradise is charmingly heart-shaped and can accommodate up to 22 guests in its Bali House or the three uniquely designed luxury wood-and-straw bures.

Nestled in the Noosa River, Makepeace Island was designed to afford the utmost in privacy, luxury, and leisure while maintaining its unique coastal features. The island possesses an innately calming Balinese-style approach, incorporating rustic yet luxe features such as large volcanic boulder bathtubs, antiques, and commissioned furniture from Bali, Java, and other parts of Indonesia. Makepeace Island was previously only a private retreat for the founders of Virgin Blue, Branson and Brett Godfrey, but now is opening its doors.

The island boasts incredible amenities, making it a truly spectacular retreat. It features a tennis court, spa facilities, lagoon pool, theatre, office facilities (like you’ll want to work…), and an expansive indoor bar. A full-service staff is also included to accommodate guests and suggest activities both on the island and in the surrounding area, but there’s nothing wrong with just lazing about amongst the scenery, either.
