Haute Event: “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” Premiere Weekend

This past independence weekend was definitely one for the books in South Beach. We still had our share of sun, beaches, back yard feasts and fireworks but, what made it different was how the premier of “Transformers; Dark Of The Moon” took over South Beach in true Hollywood style. The Regal Cinema on Lincoln Road was transformed into a Red Carpet scene that graced Hollywood Royalty such as Director Michael Bay, Tyrese Gibson as well as Pat and Chris Riley of the Miami Heat and The Edge of U2. Alton Road was closed as four “Birdmen” in the film skydived from a helicopter in their smoking wing-suits and landed at the doors of the movie theater. All this made for an incredible entrance that completely hyped the mob to watch a movie that was just as awe inspiring.

This movie didn’t have your typical 3D gag tricks. It was made so the 3D effects enveloped you into the story and enhanced the CGI effects to make you believe Optimus Prime is a real mechanical being. Shia LaBeouf returns as Sam Witwicky struggling in his life to make something of himself when a mysterious event from Earth’s past erupts into the present day. It threatens to bring a war to Earth so big that the Transformers alone will not be able to save us and he is flung back into the forefront of helping to save earth.

After watching the movie we were invited to the after party held at LIV in the Fontainebleau where Grey Goose and Hors d’œuvres were passed with no end in sight and the music was a preview for the festivities that went on through the night. LIV became the hub of all the Transformer buzz and hype as all forms of media and paparazzi swarmed the entrance and the lobby in an attempt to catch a glimpse of attending celebrities in party mode

The following day was they announced that the summer blockbuster had made 44 million so far but would culminate to 116 million before the holiday was over. This news was received with great delight and was followed by an invitation to an exclusive soirée at Michael Bay’s impressive waterfront home. This invitation only gathering gave Mr. Bay’s local friends and family a chance to celebrate the fruition of yet another astronomical project and the inherited success it will bring to his Transformers Brand. It gave a us a Haute insight as to where the movie mogul gets away from all the bright lights and mobs of fans. In true Directors form it was interesting to see what a great host he can be and how apparent that he is a director of cinema because, the lighting was tweaked until it was at a perfect glow to carry a conversation and enjoy his guests. This was defiantly a Haute weekend that will keep them talking for days.
