Living the Dream: Dream Hotel to Open in South Beach

The latest property to open under the Vikram Chatwal Hotels umbrella, Dream South Beach, opens its doors this week, adding a new member to the prestigious SoBe hotels in-crowd—a tough group to get into considering the stellar properties already dotting the strip.

The hospitality company, known for its top-notch properties in New York, Thailand, and India, finds itself revitalized with this new Dream outpost, which promises to stay true to the Dream identity, while simultaneously transforming to adhere to the specific needs of the city. Chatwal said it best, expressing why he chose Miami, “a destination renowned for its cultivated yet convivial denizens and travelers; an ideal fit for [our] brand, which seeks to capture the authentic spirit of each hotel’s locale.”

What were once two separate Art Deco hotels, the Palmer House and the Tudor Hotel, is now the byproduct of a multi-million dollar renovation by design house, Architropolis, whose goal was “to transport the glamorous mood of the properties to the present day, wherein the hotel will mark a new golden age of Miami sophistication as an alluring hideaway from the South Florida sun.”

The hotel’s restaurant space, aptly named Tudor House in the spirit of the property that stood before, will be operated by Michelin-starred chef Geoffrey Zakarian, and promises to add to Miami’s thriving culinary scene in an easy, approachable way that Zakarian describes as a “casual neighborhood beach café.”

And the swanky rooftop lounge dubbed Highbar is sure to attract the social set; in fact, famed designer Norma Kamali will be ushering them in in droves just next week, when she breaks in the new hotspot for her private swimwear presentation.
