Haute Yachts: The Sporty and Sexy New Riva 63’ Virtus Continues to Elevate Its Line

The Ferretti Group has become synonymous with maritime excellence and continues to build upon their illustrious portfolio with the announcement of their latest craft, the Riva 63’ Virtus – also the largest open yacht produced by the revered shipyard to date. This latest venture also brings in other industry bigwigs Officina Italiana Design and Advanced Yacht Technology in collaboration with Centrol Stile Ferrettigroup’s architects and designers.

Followers of the brand may notice similarities between the new craft and the preceding 63’ Vertigo, like its racy exterior and strong personality, but with one discerning difference – much more open space. The classy, clean, and refined Mediterranean-style craft boasts two large sundecks – one at bow and one astern – that are primed for entertaining and leisurely lounging, while the cockpit has three sofas, a refrigerator, sink, and hideaway grill, all of which can be covered by a large, hydraulically-operated bimini covering that can stay open during cruising. A large, double-curved windshield protects the helm and shields the craft’s passengers from wind generated by the vessel’s amazing performance.

The interior also makes spectacular use of the space. The design alternates through colors and textures with light shades of oak and darker, rich leather. The salon houses a wooden table that can comfortably seat up to six people while the master and guest cabins are situated at the bow. The master is situated lower than the other cabins, allowing for a roomier space by providing more usable space. Large, arrow-shaped side windows maintain a stunning symmetry and allow for natural light to flood in.

All of the above is countered by the Virtus’ magnificent handling, made easy by its hull’s built-in tunnel propulsion. The craft boasts twin 1360mhp MAN 12V engines that are capable of producing 1,000 kW at 2,300 rpm/minute and reach a top speed of 40 knots, with average cruising speed around 35 knots.

Norberto Ferretti, Chairman of the Ferretti Group, says of the new yacht, “Riva is an extraordinary brand, and always manages to innovate, creating unique, cutting edge models, whilst still maintaining the charm and magic which have characterized it for over 160 years. The 63’ Virtus, with her strong, decisive character combined with the elegance and refined features, which are typical to this brand, is the perfect addition to the Riva range.”
