Haute 100 Update: Tom Cruise Rocks out for Fans in Florida while Filming ‘Rock of Ages’

Haute 100 Los Angeles member Tom Cruise has been in South Florida filming a new movie, a film adaptation of the wildly popular Broadway musical, Rock of Ages. Cruise plays the lead as rocker Stacee Jaxx and, on Monday, July 18, he performed a free show for over a thousand fans at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, FL.

The crowd of fans was invited to watch Cruise perform live by Rock of Ages director Adam Shankman while he and Cruise appeared on “On Air with Ryan Seacrest” just a few days before the concert.

Cruise belted out a rocking setlist of hits, including Bon Jovi’s “Dead or Alive” and Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’”. The audience also doubled as extras, as they were asked to dress up in a 1980s style to keep in line with the setting of the movie. Later in the day, the movie crew gave away prizes that included iPads, iTouches, iPod Nanos, iPod Shuffles, and two Fender guitars autographed by the cast of the film.

Co-stars Julianne Hough as ‘Sherrie Christian’ and Diego Boneta as ‘Drew Boley’ joined Cruise onstage for some time as they rocked out for the hordes of fans. Cruise also put on a special bonus performance of Def Leppard’s “Pour Some Sugar On Me”, exclusively for the fans that came out that day. After the performance, Cruise then asked them to submit their own pictures and videos of the performance to him, which Cruise then published on his official website.

Rock of Ages, which also stars Alec Baldwin, Paul Giamatti, Malin Akerman, Russell Brand, Mary J. Blige, Bryan Cranston, and Catherine Zeta-Jones, is slated to hit theaters June 1, 2012.
