Haute 100 Update: Joe Montana Approved for Luxury Hotel, Restaurant, Bar Across from New 49ers Stadium

Former San Francisco 49ers quarterback, Hall of Famer, football legend, and Haute 100 San Francisco member Joe Montana has a lot of accomplishments under his belt – and now he can add one more. The famed NFL figure was approved earlier this month by the Santa Clara City Council to start developing, and he has his sights set on a seven-acre plot to house a luxury hotel, sports bar, and high-end restaurant – all right across the street from the 49ers’ upcoming $987 million stadium.

The project is anticipated to have a completion time that coincides with the future stadium, due to finish in the fall of 2015. The Santa Clara City Council approved the deal by a vote of 5-1, with the one naysayer being Jamie McLeod, who was in favor of a competitive bidding process rather than a grant of exclusive negotiating rights.

Eddie DeBartolo, Jr., former 49ers owner and established real estate investor, is also involved in Montana’s investment group. Santa Clara councilwoman Lisa Gillmor believes that the star power between the two will in invaluable to the project’s success.
