Haute 100 Update: Clint Eastwood Honors Fallen Officers with Position at Upcoming Memorial and Museum

It looks like ‘Dirty Harry’ himself has a spot in his heart for real-life officers. On Monday, July 18, it was announced that famous actor/director and Haute 100 San Francisco member Clint Eastwood has taken on the role of Honorary Chairman for the upcoming National Law Enforcement Memorial and Museum. The construction of the museum – a tribute to fallen police officers and their legacies – began last year and is set to complete by the end of 2013.

“The National Memorial and Museum are long overdue and richly deserved tributes to the men and women in law enforcement,” Eastwood explained.  “Thousands of real-life, sworn law enforcement officers never make it home. They make the ultimate sacrifice. We owe those who have fallen, and all of our nation’s law enforcement officers, a huge debt of gratitude.”

The plans have been approved by Congress to build the museum on a plot of Federal land across from the National Memorial, which currently honors more than 19,000 officers killed in the line of duty, with the museum building to lie along the courthouses at Washington’s Judiciary Square.

The memorial is set to be a three-story building that will feature several high-tech, interactive exhibits. Mostly underground, the museum will also display thousands of historical artifacts. A Hall of Remembrance will chronicle the lives of officers who had tragically lost their lives in the line of duty.
