A Look at South Florida’s Five Highest-Paid CEOs

South Florida Business Journal’s list of the Top 25 Highest-Paid CEOs reveals how much those at the top of the food chain rake in each year. Calculated by combining salary and bonus, these numbers are seriously impressive. Most impressive are the list’s top five earners, made up of more newcomers than veterans.

Number five is Mike Jackson of AutoNation, who rakes in $4.013 million. Jackson, who held the number 7 position last year, has been CEO of AutoNation since 1999.

Down a spot from last year, the number four spot belongs to Bradley I. Meier of Universal Insurance Holdings, with a salary and bonus combined of $4.3 million. Meier has been CEO since 1990 when the company was established.

Making the 10-spot jump from last year’s number 13 to this year’s number 3 spot is Richard D. Fain of Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. After being CEO since 1988, Fain’s income is $5.066 million.

The founding CEO of Seacor Holdings, Charles Fabrikant keeps last year’s number 2 position with a cool $5.2 million.

Finally, the number one spot belongs to someone who didn’t even break the top five list last year. South Florida’s highest paid CEO is Howard M. Lorber, who has been with Vector Group since 1994. Up seven spots from number 8 to number 1, his salary and bonus combined bring him in a whopping $6 million a year.
