1925 Rolls-Royce Motor Car worth $750,000
by Ashley Butler

Bonhams, one of the world’s oldest and largest auctioneers, will be selling a custom-made 1925 Rolls-Royce New Phantom. At the Quail Lodge sale.  The auction will be held this August in Carmel, Calif. during Pebble Beach Car Week.  Umed Sing II, Maharaja of Kotah, commissioned the car, originally created for tiger hunting.

Rolls-Royce partnered with famed coachbuilders Barker & Company of London to create the Sports Touring body.  The car boasts an 8.0-liter, 6-cylinder engine with dual-spark ignition, giving it enough power to navigate the jungles of Rajasthan, India.

Aside from the luxurious amenities provided with every Rolls-Royce, this custom car features a hidden safe, powerful searchlights for night hunting, mountable Lantaka cannon attached to the bumper, nickel-plated hissing snake horn, mounted Howdah gun, rifle stand in the rear passenger compartment and a machine gun mounted on a matching trailer.

The Indian Consulate attempted to have the car donated to a museum to be displayed as a piece of national heritage but the owner at the time chose not to part with the motorcar.

It is estimated that the antique will sell for $750,000 to $1,000,000 when auctioned.
