Your Own Private Paradise
by Alexandra Delgado

Hidden behind a lush green jungle lies 3 Indian Creek Island Road. The winding driveway leading up to the house is flanked by incredible greenery. Upon emerging, a giant, 100-year-old Banyan tree grabs your attention. Then your eyes fall on a dream home oasis.

“We wanted the house to be discovered,” said co-developer Felix Cohen. And what a discovery it is.

Located on the private Indian Creek Island, Cohen and co-developer Shlomi Alexander’s 30,000 square foot masterpiece is now on the market . What could be the most expensive realty sale in Miami is justified, Cohen said, as theregalcreation is hardly just a house.

“It’s more like a vacation resort,” he said.

Instead of walking up to a front door, guests walk in through a wide outdoor corridor, lined by ponds of Koi fish. On one side sits the guesthouse pavilion, on the other, the main pavilion. In the front lies the majestic Biscayne Bay.

The two-story waterfront property is organized into five pavilions with waterways connecting them. Solid limestone walls run east to west while the perpendicular ones are entirely glass, allowing for sunlight to cast shadows and creating different atmospheres throughout the day.

“It’s about light and water,” Cohen said.

The main pavilion alone houses two living rooms, bars, several bedrooms, a library, two dream kitchen and multiple bathrooms. The structure itself embraces the theme of open space—the rooms are separated by glass doors that slide open so you can have the entire first floor open to the outside. The glass is strong enough to withstand 150 MPH winds, keeping the home safe from the sometimes treacherous Miami weather.

Overall, this home resortboasts ten bedrooms, fourteen bathrooms, five kitchens and a seven-car garage large enough to fit limousines.

Cohen calls it a “party house,” the perfect place for lots of company.

But it’s not so much what the property entails as it is the feeling it embodies. Cohen and Alexander created an atmosphere true to the design of the home.

They furnished the home luxuriously, from custom couches in the living rooms to a stunning Mother of Pearl wall behind the bar in the main pavilion to the shiny silver forks and knives in the custom kitchen drawers.Even the elevator is luxe – leather covers its walls.

As the house was a four-year project, Cohen admits that much oftheir time was spent sorting out intricate details and choosing opulent textiles. In one pavilion, the spa’s dark granite walls create a spiritual air, whether you’re in the aromatherapy steam room or getting a massage. A python-framed ceiling-high mirror gives the gym a sophisticated touch. The gym faces the bay, its glass doors showcasing a stunning view. Outside of the spa and gym is a small pool with a relaxing cascade of water overflowing from the fabulous rooftop Jacuzzi above. An incredible vertical garden in the middle of the main pavilion keeps the jungle theme of the entrance alive. The outside kitchen and gazebo area is perfect for hosting a summertime soiree.

While detail is definitely what makes this resort home magical, the beautiful bay on which the impressive home sits seriously rivals the grandeur found inside. Outside, the water glistens, the pink Bahamian sand beach is inviting and the 100-foot pool seems to meld perfectly with the home’s surroundings.

Cohen and Alexander thought of everything to achieve the sumptuous resort feel, including a 3-D projection movie theatre, with carpeting so plush it almost reaches your ankles, a service entrance and service living quarters, even a panic room. There’s nothing modest about the master bedroom, with its palatial closet, morning kitchen for coffee or tea and remote control toilets. Fingerprint identification technology guards the wine room.

Listed by the Jills from Coldwell Bankers, this fabulous property looks and feels like paradise, combining the comforts of home with the freeing, sensual air of a resort. The combination of design, creativity and pure luxury make this a versatile property, well-equipped for relaxing alone or hosting lavish parties.

“It’s a place where your mind and your body align, and you find serenity, tranquility,” Cohen said. “At the same time, it’s a place where you can have a big party with all your friends.”
