Those jetting off to the Hamptons this weekend for some Fourth of July fun should be sure to check out the 10th annual Vered Gallery Silent Art Auction.
The auction will feature artworks by Ross Bleckner, John Chamberlain, Chuck Close, Eric Fischl, Bill Viola, Andy Warhol, Ray Caesar and Raul Higuera and will be available for bidding online, by phone, and in the gallery until 5 p.m. on Sunday. Proceeds will benefit the ‘Turn the Corner’ foundation, an internationally recognized public charity, and leader in the fight against Lyme and other tick-borne diseases.
Founded in February of 2002 by Staci and Rich Grodin, the two saw an urgent need for research, funding, and education in the area of tick-borne diseases, an epidemic that now affects more than seven million residents in Long Island.
Benefit Committee Co-Chairs Jay McInerney and Anne Hearst brought the ‘Turn the Corner’ foundation to the attention of Vered Gallery this spring when McInerney mentioned his interest in supporting a Lyme disease research program. An informative meeting with ‘Turn the Corner’ Director Stacey Sobel solidified the gallery’s support, and development of this summer’s Art Auction Benefit was quickly underway.
To view the silent auction and bid, visit www.veredart.com. Should a piece catch your eye, don’t miss the Last Bid Closing party on Sunday, July 3 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Those interested in learning more about the ‘Turn the Corner’ foundation should visit their website, http://turnthecorner.org/
