POC American Fusion Buffet & Sushi Coral Gables
by Jasmine Berry

Innovative upscale buffet POC American Fusion Buffet & Sushi makes gluttony feel glamorous, serving the highest standard of buffet-style dining. The eatery’s second location (the first is in Weston), is in the heart of Downtown Coral Gables at 2121 Ponce de Leon Blvd. POC, which stands for Ports of Call, has culinary offerings from Asia and Europe with an American flavor.

Renowned Chefs Kevin Z. and Johnny Hong Kong have put together a menu featuring over 40 selections of fresh sushi, sashimi and hand rolls. Original rolls created by Chef Kevin Z. include the Fire Dragon, which consists of Shrimp Tempura topped with Spicy Tuna Red & Black Tobiko, the Sweet Girl, Sweet Crab Roll topped with BBQ Eel and Salmon Roe, and the Angel Roll, a Spicy Tuna Roll topped with Salmon Tataki.

POC features a raw bar piled with crab legs, mussels, oysters, shrimp, clams, and a carving station with prime rib, churrasco, grilled chicken, seasonal vegetables and many more delectables. To satisfy your sweet tooth, POC has a number of luxurious desserts to indulge in, including creme brule, tres leches, mango mousse cake and more.

The buffet also offers an array of soups, salads, appetizers, creative side dishes, and an a la carte menu for foodies who forgo the buffet. The new contemporary Coral Gables locale has two flat screen TV’s and complementary wi-fi for those workaholics on a lunch break.
