Louis Vuitton’s latest evolution came about on June 9th as the Covent Garden hosted a special event on East Piazza in London. The “Young Arts Project” gathered up-and-coming artists, five highly respected institutions, as well as local artists to help launch “REcreative,” the project’s ground-breaking website to inspire young people to get involved with modern-contemporary art.

Artists that participated, included Jeremy Deller, Jessica Voorsanger, Michael Landy and Gillian Wearing, who worked with young artists from the Louis Vuitton Young Arts Project to design an industrial box into a striking temporary art installation that kept guests busy making exclusive T-shirts that were given out to the first time users.

The site will feature exclusive content and sneak peaks into the world of art. REcreative, will defiantly offer young people the chance to be part of a cyber art community. It’s concept, structure, and design have been in the works for a little over year by members of the Louis Vuitton Young Art’s Project. REcreative, named by the team of young folks, fit best because it coveys their interest in creating new work that regards or reinterprets presented works and ideas.

The arrival of the Young Arts Project couldn’t have come at a better time, as the Covent Garden has had a summer full of cultural activities that followed the recent Covent Garden Lawn Library that will partner with the London Design Festival this September.

The Louis Vuitton Young Arts Project was introduced back in May of 2010, a first-time partnership between Louis Vuitton and five of London’s leading art institutions: the Hayward Gallery, the Royal Academy of Arts, the South London Gallery, Tate Britain and the Whitechapel Gallery.
