During the week leading up to the MTV Awards, Hollywood is a buzz with one party after another. Not that we’re complaining.

Friday was the Case-Mate unveiling of their new line of playful Creature Cases for the iPhone 4 at the W Hollywood hotel. The “Waddler” case – an adorable penguin design with attached webbed feet – attracted a flurry of excitement among the celebs in attendance. (That’s actress Malin Ackerman bussing her new case.)

Some chose the not-so-scary “Monsta” case but by far the most popular area was the Mobile Case Factory where stars can design custom cases by Case-Mate partners like musicians No Doubt, Yo Gabba Gabba, Nine Inch Nails, Yeasayer, Metric Health and graphic artists like Matt Moore, Chuck Anderson and Joshua Davis.

Known for their innovative accessories that protect technology, the Case-Mate motto is, fittingly, “happiness by design.”
