Charity Golf Outing Raises $50,000 for DMD
by Jillian MacMath

A long list of celebrity athletes and golf enthusiasts gathered on May 13 at Mercer Oaks Golf Course in Windsor, N.J., to help raise money for the third annual Ryan’s Quest Charitable Golf Outing, sponsored by Hamilton Honda. The outing brought together more than 200 attendees, including NFL players Jessie Armstead, Antonio Pierce, Lincoln Coleman, Kevin Williams and Marcus Buckley, to raise money to help find a cure for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.

The organization, Ryan’s Quest, was founded by Hamilton residents David and Maria Schultz on behalf of their son Ryan and thousands of other young children affected with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, the most common fatal genetic disorder to effect children.

Following a round of golf, participants and attendees enjoyed dinner, cocktails and a silent auction that featured autographed memorabilia from the New York Giants and Philadelphia Eagles NFL teams, as well as a personal tour of the new Meadowlands Stadium — home of the New York Giants — and four passes to tour the ESPN studios and attend a taping of SportsCenter. The event raised over $50,000 towards the cure of DMD.

“One hundred percent of the funds raised at the Ryan’s Quest Charitable Golf Outing will go to medical research,” said Armstead, who co-owns Hamilton Honda with business partner Michael Saporito. “We look forward to continuing our relationship with Ryan’s Quest for the years to come to further help fund medical research and to raise awareness for this disease.”
