The Theatre Museum’s 2011 Awards at New York’s Legendary National Arts Club

On Monday, May 16, New York’s iconic National Arts Club was host to The Theatre Museum’s 2011 Awards: A Memorable Evening of Song and Tributes. Classic tunes were brought to life in tribute to the legendary Broadway lyricist Sheldon Harnick, who was the Museum’s 2011 Career Achievement Award recipient, and was presented with the esteemed award by his longtime colleague Hal Prince, a winner of an incredible 21 Tony Awards.

The evening hosted a number of Broadway’s top talents, including Gregg Edelman, Tovah Feldshuh, Jenny Fellner, Anita Gillette, Jessica Grove, Elizabeth Inghram, Jim Brochu, Howard McGillin and John Bolton, who took to the stage to perform songs from honoree Sheldon Harnick’s over-60 year career. The evening’s incredible performance was under the direction of Tony, Emmy, and Academy Award winner Tony Walton, and was produced by Jared Hershkowitz.

The night honored other icons in show business, including Tony Award-winning producer Bonnie Comley, who took home The Theatre Museum’s Distinguished Service to the Theatre Award presented by Jim Dale. Frank Cullen and Donald McNeilly received the Theatre History Preservation Award while The Frank Sinatra School of the Arts was honored with The Theatre Museum’s Theatre Arts Education Award.
