Peace and yoga for the mind this Mother’s Day and always!!

This has been an intense week for the world and in particular for me and my family for those of you who know that my Mother perished on American Airlines flight 11 on September 11, 2001. As the world’s eyes were on the death of Osama Bin Laden, the greatest terror threat to humanity ever in world history, we can celebrate goodness and be joyful toward a new time with greater peace.

Now is the time for healing and love and what better way to honor the most special HOLIDAY of the year, Mother’s day!! A mother’s love is unique and one of a kind – it is that unconditional love that a mother gives her child that can help heal the world and another path toward feeling happy and whole and nurturing your soul is YOGA!!  In my book, SONIA’S RING: 11 WAYS TO HEAL YOUR HEART, www.soniasring.com, I discuss that there are many types of yoga.  The aim of yoga is to put you on a path of self-improvement and love. Yoga, like any form of meditation is a tool, a vehicle that helps you tap into hidden jewels, the strengths and talents within you, that can empower you physically and spiritually.

Do you want some peace and yoga for the mind?  If you are in New York City this Saturday, May 7, 2011, at 4 p.m., the day before Mother’s Day, and want to become a member of the Rubin Museum of Art located at 150 W. 17th Street, then you can see a remarkable film called “Naked in Ashes” and meet a very beautiful and special friend of mine named Paula Fouce who produced the film.  As written in the event’s program listing, this film, “…chronicles the Yogis of India, including 14 year old Santos Giri, who follows his teacher Shiv Raj Giri in probing the deepest mysteries of life on a 5000 year old path.”  While watching as the Yogis follow their quest for the Divine, you can contemplate on the mysteries and miracles of life and think about some marvelous questions for the Q & A with Paula after the screening!!

Paula Fouce spent several years living and working throughout South Asia and has explored many countries including Afghanistan, India, Nepal, China, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.  She directed and produced, “Origins of Yoga”, “Naked in Ashes” and the Emmy nominated “Not in God’s Name” featuring His Holiness the Dalai Lama. For more information and to buy her films on DVD go to www.paradisefilmworks.com.  Enjoy the Movie!! With Gratitude and Happy Mother’s Day to ALL!!! Love Love Love, Sonia
