It takes a solid team to run a successful restaurant since it must be carefully machinated from the front of the house as well as from the back.  Andrew Zobler, of GFI Development, was seemingly aware of this when he approached Daniel Humm and Will Guidara, the executive chef and general manager of Eleven Madison Park, to be the maestros for the upcoming restaurant inside The NoMad Hotel.  With a collection of notable accolades already under their belts with Eleven Madison this duo will have critics swarming at their doors to indulge in the first potential mistake.

Zobler, who is recognized for erecting the Ace Hotel in the same neighborhood, is by now quite familiar with the demands of the local clientele.  The hotel, which is still under construction will house the eponymous restaurant (NoMad) which Humm and Guidara will be heading.  The plans for the space are said to include a bar, a library lounge, and two à la carte dining rooms on the lower level as well as a rooftop dining area for seasonal use.

Located on the corner of Broadway at 28th Street in the Madison Square North Historic District, the edifice is already receiving praise as it claims the first LEED certification for a renovated hotel in New York City.  The French interior designer, Jacques Garcia, whose credits include the New York City hotspot Spice Market, will green-ifying the confines of the hotel which is all slated to open, in February, give or take.

No information has been released just yet as to what kind of cuisine the restaurant will focus on.  Needless to say it will most probably color within the lines of the eco-conscious theme it was born to.  When asked, Mr. Humm, who mentioned the venture at NoMad had initially intrigued him for the proximity to Eleven Madison, only said this, “I hope to have an open hearth oven and plan dishes that celebrate New York.  But there will definitely be a French accent because my roots are French.”  “I’ve been approached a lot, but for me, proximity to Eleven Madison Park is important.”
