Just in time for summer, the recently re-opened Four Seasons Resort Hualalai on Hawaii’s Big Island, debuts a chic, new adult-only hideway complete with sexy pool and bar scene on May 16.

Closed for six weeks following the March 11 tsunami, the resort opened its doors again on April 30 looking more casually elegant than ever.

In introducing the hotel’s new “Palm Grove Pool Experience,” General Manager Robert Whitfield said, “We’re renowned for our pools, and the new Palm Grove Pool is yet another incredible experience for our guests to enjoy during their stay with us. Everything from the design of the pool and its furnishings to the nature-inspired amenities and cocktails speak to our quest to continually set the bar higher when it comes to the world’s best resort pool experiences.”

Guests at Palm Grove receive hourly poolside pampering inspired by the elements: coconut water and aloe refresher shots (water), warm lava stones placed on pressure points (fire), thermal mud hand and body lotion (earth) and organic aromatherapy-infused oshiburi towels (air.) Organic eye pillows with essential oils also are offered, along with a rotating selection of infused waters, sunscreen, reading materials and wooden board games.

The swim-up bar with bench seating in the pool is the place to sample the Resort’s signature cocktail — “adult shave ice”. Flavors range from Pineapple or Yuzu Margarita and Thyme Berri Cooler to Sake Pom-Tini. A selection of nature-inspired cocktails also is offered, including a Green Tea Mojito and Peach Smash. All juices are fresh squeezed, while herbs for cocktails are grown poolside. The locally-sourced menu features sushi, salads, wraps and sandwiches.

But the main event, the center of attention is the newly built, sensational tension-edged saline/chlorine pool. Perfect for lap swimming or a quick cooling dip, the pool is 40 feet in length from its basalt entry steps to its ocean-facing crescent edge, and some 50 feet wide. A spacious 8’x16’ Jacuzzi sits adjacent to the 2,500-square-foot pool deck (made from Brazilian ipe hardwood and basalt planking) with 24 poolside chaise longues, seven day beds in semi-private areas just off the deck and two hammocks.

In keeping with the peaceful ambiance, chaise longue side-tables are topped with miniature zen gardens, while fragrant gardenia and plumeria surround the pool providing a hint of blissful natural aromatherapy. All and all the Palm Grove Pool Experience is the lastest and greatest “dip and sip” on Hawaii Island…book a room and enjoy!
