Haute Spot: Citizen Public House and Oyster Bar

The Red Sox aren’t the only reason to trek down to Kenmore Square this summer. A self-described “modern neighborhood tavern” with an innovative take on pig-centric pub cuisine, Citizen Public House and Oyster Bar (1310 Boylston Street, Boston, 617.450.9000) offers an extensive selection of spirits (75 whiskeys and microbrews), shellfish (a full raw bar featuring locally-harvested Wellfleet oysters, among others), and swine (grab nine of your buddies for a full pig roast for $380) that’ll make your belly swell to Papi-like proportions.
Located a short throw from Fenway, you can pop in before a Sox home game and grab delicious canederli meatballs with grated percorino cheese off the snack menu, or slide in at evening’s end for a game-saving Parker’s Heritage Wheated 10 Year nightcap. The dark wood interior offers a welcoming atmosphere, and the nightly chalkboard specials switch up more times than the Sox’s starting lineup (but in a good way). All in all, to continue in the same “can of corn-y” baseball vein, Citizen Pub is a hands-down home run.
